Start at Bear Valley
The primary visitor center is the most efficient place to check road, trail and wildlife conditions before committing to the outer peninsula.

Pick coast, lighthouse or trail
The lighthouse drive alone is a substantial extension from Bear Valley. Drakes Beach or a Bear Valley trail can make a better day when wind, closures or late departure reduce the margin.
- 03Pause
Use Point Reyes Station deliberately
The town is the natural place for food and supplies. Treat it as part of the itinerary, not an emergency fallback after everything has closed.
- 04Return
Leave the peninsula before fatigue sets in
The rural return asks for attention after a long outdoor day. Set a turnaround time before the final viewpoint, especially in winter.

Arrive at the peninsula with the fuel question settled
Fuel choices thin out after leaving the US-101 corridor. Compare San Rafael and Novato with the smaller towns closer to Point Reyes, but do it before committing to the outer peninsula. A station near the highway can be the better total decision even if its pump price is slightly higher.
